Thanks - Sorry do you mean to keep my 6000 ose and use the money elsewhere or to get a 5005 and using the savings over a 6006 elsewhere  - at the moment I wasn't thinking of changing my amp or speakers see my sig for details

i cant comment on the 6000 ose as ive never listened to one. what i can say is that i own several.cd players, and there isn't a huge difference in sound quality.

are u able to take your cd player to a shop to demo against a newer cd player.

I've got a cd6006 and it's a fine player. You do have to go up the food chain for improvement in playback quality. With Marantz that would be either the used sa8005 SACD player or the 8006 CD player. They are a worthy investment and there is a marked improvement, certainly with redbooks on the sa8005, another Marantz that I own.

I no longer use the cd6006 as I need SACD playback and have bought a Denon SACD player to replace it. Nevertheless the cd6006 is always a player that I'll highly recommend.

I probably listen more to music from my pc via iTunes (hoping to get a usb dac on black Friday) than my cd player but still like having and listening to a physical disc - might move my 6000 to the other room where I'm using a pioneer dvd player as my source either that or just keep using it until it gives up lol
