The above are fire rated and IP65 but as the6 have no back the Hue GU10 lamp fits fine. I have 12 of them.

The 69.99 deal was for the previous version of GU10, they're OK but are longer than standard GU10s and don't have the same colour range as all the other bulbs.

There was a deal on 3 of the new GU10s for 79.99. I've already got some of the old style GU10 as well so can compare them.

Obviously the size is different, I've tried them in a few different spare fittings I have and they fitted every one I tried. The front glass is slightly domed but even IP rated fittings tend to have some space between the front of the lamp and the glass of the fitting.

Second obvious point the colours are indeed better, the old ones are good on reds and pinks but green shades were a problem, the new ones have the same colour envelope as the other bulbs.

The thing that did pleasantly surprise me was relating to brightness, they are slightly brighter, not massively but noticeable so when side by side, but they also dim lower than the old versions too, wasn't expecting that TBH

The only thing I'd say is a negative is the unused Bluetooth seems to stay active which if nothing else clutters up the pairing screens of any other devices.

Overall the new GU10s are a worthwhile upgrade IMO.

My solution to stopping others turning off the light switch was covering it with a Philips Hue Smart Wireless dimmer switch and faceplate.
These were on offer at Amazon just a few days ago for £9.99 but I see they’ve gone back up to £17.00.

I’ve done the same. I purchased some Samotech converters which sit on top of the existing light switch, Very easy to install, just unscrew the original one and put the new one on top using the longer screws supplied. They even put a screwdriver in every pack too

I was lucky because my existing switches stayed stuck to the wall with paint even when I took the screws out so I didn’t need to reseat them.

How many bulbs are recommended/ best to use with the hue scenes?

Entirely depends on what you want to achieve. In our living room alone we have 22 bulbs. But hardly ever all on at the same time.

I'm looking for a couple of colour B22 bulbs and a couple of E14 white ambience bulbs but not seen any yet in the Black Friday sales that suit my needs.

There have been offers with the B22 bulbs bundled with Echo type devices but I'm not interested in them. I'm also not wanting the newer bulbs with Bluetooth as I've read that the Bluetooth can't be disabled.
