Not got ikea ones yet but mine from NewBlinds have now arrived.  WIll hopefully be getting them up this weekend and temporarily wired into the Aeotec relays.  If I get it working I'll post up a video.

I’m thinking of upgrading my home alarm to the Somfy protect so I’m leaning toward Somfy controlled blinds as well.

I installed a couple of the Ikea blinds this weekend on some smaller windows to try them out. Had to cut one of them down by 5cm and it was fairly easy to do.  They work great, very quiet. Haven’t had chance yet to try to integrate them into home automation.

Unfortunately Ikea don’t have a wide enough versions for our main windows so looking into how two could be hacked and joined together. I think the plastic end cap could be modified to create the joint by cutting off the outer edge but not sure yet what to do for the tube/blind material. Failing that I’ll consider one of the other options discussed here.

If Ikea quote the blind width as 80cm. I assume the fabric is 80cm , how much extra do the brackets /frame add?

thanks

Yes, fabric is 80cm and overall blind casing is 84cm.

I was under the impression that the Ikea smart blinds couldn’t be cut down to size

Anyone using the Luxaflex Pirouette blinds? Expensive option but they look fantastic.

@Inked So was I, until I stumbled upon this gem. Doesn't look difficult at all.

Cool, thank you. Essentially just one more cut over any other roller blind for the top box section. Could be time to upgrade the kitchen blind!
