Lightwaverf delay in switching on

I'm using the light switch, not the app.

It's better now I've set the max brightness higher. Can anyone recommend a low wattage B22 bulb that works 100%?

I have found that while the lightwave system is very good (we have about 10 rooms with lightwave switches) it can be fussy about bulbs.

To my great annoyance, the worst I have found are the Ikea ones. Meant to be dimmable, but flicker, turn on and off, and need constant recalibration. I have wasted about £50.

We have now switched to Philips dimables, about £5 on Amazon, which seem to work pretty well. The search for the perfect bulb goes on, but these are fine for now with Lightwave.

As for a delay, there is delay but it’s probably less than a second.

Did you get these ones? They work okay for me now set at 65% max.

Sainsbury's B22's are meant to be fully compatible, the only ones listed at less that 10W.

Just bought some, 2 for £8. They also reset the switch when at 85%, whilst being listed as fully compatible. They do work fine at 65% though and seem to turn on faster than Philips.

Their list is very limited, and I have found one bulb to not be compatible on the list, so I assume it has changed. Also some bulb that seem to work perfect are not listed.

I’m not sure why they haven’t put more effort into building a list. So I largely ignore it.

None of these lists are conclusive, but for example Varilight suggest they test their dimmers with various lamps, sealed units etc from different manufacturers. Having had issues with dimmers, for various customers, and then rung dimmer manufacturers, they all pretty much say the same.

If a lamp doesn’t work with the chosen dimmer or the dimmer gets damaged, they’ll just refer you back to their list. BS7671 says manufacturers instructions should be taken into account, therefore I couldn’t afford to ignore their advice.

I spoke to support about the Sainsbury's B22 issue, they said that the compatible bulbs listed on their website don't necessarily work 100%. I'm happy with them though, they reach 80% before resetting which is more than enough light for me.

Also asked about them been slow to dim, it takes a couple of seconds after holding to change, they said this was normal.

Anyone use the google home mini with Lightwave? The past few weeks when you turn the lights on it says it can’t reach them but still turns then on. Turns off fine. A few peeps have the same issue on Google’s forum. Really annoying bug.

The problem with bulb compatibility lists is that although a manufacturer may assemble the bulbs themselves, they often source the components from a variety of manufacturing sources and these may change over time. The components may also have a general specification, they will also be within certain tolerances. This means that 2 identical bulbs, from the same manufacturer can actually have differing components in them, hence making compatibility a bit of hit and miss.
