I've set up a dedicated PC and network for it to keep traffic isolated (bandwidth). Unless you plan dozens of cameras you should be OK with an i5 SFF PC and WD Purple disk.

I would always go NVR over a PC. BlueIris is pretty overkill for most domestic installs. NVRs just do the job, no antivirus or windows updates, easier to manage, designed to work with cameras plug n play, works with the apps. They are a Ronseal product, does what it says on the tin. Also much cheaper than buying an i5 NUC, Windows license, blue Iris License and a Switch.

I would concur with this... a dedicated component is always going to be better then a multi purpose component. It just has one job to do and continues to do so.
