I’d love to replace my Amazon Echo’s with an Apple based offering, but with sound quality lower down my list of priorities the HomePod doesn’t seem to be the product I’m looking for. Siri isn’t as good as Alexa and Google assistant, and I’ve already kitted my entire house out with various models of Echo for less than the cost of one HomePod.

I think it will do well (and I hope it does so that Apple eventually diversify the range) with those that are looking for better audio than the Echo’s offer and don’t like Google/Amazons business models for data usage.

I may dip my toe later in the year once more of the features are working just for music in the main living area but won’t be swapping from Alexa for smart home functions.

I’m hoping to order one of these today for the kitchen. I have an Apple Music subscription so hopefully it will work seamlessly with it, and I can shout at it while I’m washing the dishes instead of messing with my phone with wet hands.

It is not an equivalent. Every time I looked at Sonos I was not impressed by the sound. The app is rubbish. Doesn’t integrate well with my needs. But anyway this is about the HomePod. I don’t go through the Sonos threads to say how much I like something else.
