Just called Tosh, even though TV is out of warranty by 8 months and that they know of the issue they will call it in for repair.
Weird, because they didnt know of this issue 3-4 months ago, and all they did was get an authorised Engineer local to me update the firmware and that was it.
Is replacing the micropressor a costly job? also how would they identify that this is the problem wth my TV?
Hi, I've giuven the TV to the same Engineer, he has said that there is no known issue with this TV, he has checked with Tosh, and also on their Tech Support Site but there is nothing.
How would I prove that the issue is the microprocessor.
You wouldn't be able to prove it. But your 'engineer' should be able to. It's called fault finding!
He is correct - the micro isn't a 'known' issue on the Toshiba Technical site. All that means is it's not a 'common fault'. By common, we mean something which has been seen many times before and reported back to Toshiba Technical.
I may be wrong with my crystal ball diagnosis. It's impossible to diagnose this without seeing the set in question! But if the set were on my bench, I'd start by checking the power supply voltages are all present and correct.
Mine does this i have had the set about 6 month's now i have the 42" version what happen's is the tv is in standby then the green light come's on like it's randomly turning itself on and the red stop's on with it no picture show's up.
So i have to use the remote to turn the tv on then off to knock the green light off.
I thought it was some kinda setting but i can't see it anywhere either.
It's really strange but the tv itself work's fine.
I think i'll get it checkout while it is still in warranty.
The issue I have is that when it is in standby for no apparent reason and at random times the set will 'click' in to 'Ready' with the Standy Light still on and then returns to standby. Both lights remain on when this process happens.
No idea why this happens, toitally random and the TV is working fine apart from this random issue.
8 years late to the party but my Toshiba led has just started doing the same. It never actually turns on just clicks, both LEDs light and then a few minutes later they sometimes go off. Suspect it's the auto HDMI switching as my new talktalk youview box doesn't like being ignored. If you switch to another input it switches back up to three times in a sulk. Either that or like the Samsungs it's the NSA listening in. Mines got no ethernet or WiFi, still in the dark ages so it's not looking for updates.
Two more years I have one doing the same. The power supply has 47 volts on the 40v line but no issues found, i have found the digital tuner processor gets very hot so removed pcb. tv still powers up then found small processor on main board just warm on standby only 5v ok. but it gets very hot when turned on for a minute or two then tv shuts down so "processor faulty ?" Why "two hot ones" or power supply fault but tests ok going to try with a heatsink as can't find any reason for this. Help!! save landfill.
