Hi,

I have bought a GR-DX307EK JVC mini dv camcorder but there is no av cable. I have searched online but as old model unable to find anything. Is  there a generic cable I can use to hook up to a tv that doesn't cost a fortune?

Thanks in advance

Rachael

Hi Rachael
Has your TV got an HDMI or USB connection?

Try "JVC Audio/Video Multi Cable for GR-DX307EK" on e-bay. It may be what you want.

The truth is I don't know, you could try asking the seller & for the cost, it's worth a try.

The USB cable is for connection I believe to a PC.  The normal cable for AV to a TV would be one with a Red,Black and Yellow plug on.  Yellow is Video and the Red and Black Audio left and right. Now does your TV have those three sockets on it, Very much doubt it if it is a modern TV.

I have USB & HDMI sockets on my Smart TV & can view the MP4s & Jpegs I produce on it via a memory stick. If the cable fits the camera, Rachael should be able to see what's in her camera. for £2.99 it's worth a try.

USB ports on miniDV camcorders is normally only for transferring photos and in some cases webcam quality video. However for both these you are likely to need to connect the camcorder to a PC/Mac.
As @Terfyn & @Andy98765  said you will need the analogue AV cable with the yellow, Red & black (or white) phono plugs. You will also need these connections on the TV (or a scart input) to use the cable.

Mark.
