Has anyone come across any consumer software that will allow the authoring of 4K UHD footage to a Bluray disc with a menu and chapters.

I presently use Tmpgenc Authoring Works but it currently only supports DVD and Blu-ray authoring.

I've checked the following and none of the following support 4K authoring either directly in the software or with associated software or a plugin.

Looks like it's presently not possible at a consumer level.

The Q. is  does BlueRay support 4K ?  - For home-software probably not - which is why no-one has suggested their fav. Video-Editor.
Ultra-HD-BlueRay does support 4K..... but are incompatible with existing players . . . I suspect there maybe a change in the wavelength ( to violet?), so without buying a lot of new hi-tech gear ( and the Edit/Burn software....), I guess you'll have to wait.

This prompts the discussion on here from time-to-time: "Do we need 4K"
-since few of us can create content that can be seen by others ( via some recording medium). Club projectors are rarely above HD resolution - but perfectly OK when watching in a small hall.
Personally, I gave-up with DVD ( low quality, long burn time ), and BD discs are pricey IMHO.... so I use Memory-Sticks  - These deliver HD 1920x1080 perfectly well.
When Editing 4K,  you can "zoom-in" and still have HD quality . . . maybe that's the only advantage presently....

Let us know how this is resolved.....

You can purchase commercial 4k Blurays it is strange aurthoring and burning your own does not seem available, but 4K filmed material is so much better than HD filmed material that HD  blurays from 4k source hold up very well, personaly i render my 4k films to external hard drives, the hard drives play perfectly well on on my 4K TVs i also make HD blu rays from the 4K films.

Yes it does, well sort of.

I know this thread is about authoring and as already mentioned there is no consumer software to do this. But UHD BD discs can be read on some drives from LG & Asus (who rebadge LG drives), so with a bit of luck authoring software wont be too far off. There are the 'official UHD' drives and then some 'UHD-Friendly' drives.

Google 'UHD-Friendly' for more info

Mark.

I waited for 4 years to burn my AX100 camcorder 4K material, edited in Power Director 14, to UHD Blu Ray. Google UHD CREATOR and you will find that UHD burning is possible, albeit w/o a menu.It creates chapters in 5 min interval and can record more than 1 video. Burning is to 25/50GB and any BR burner will do. The UHD discs play in a Sony as well as a Samsung w/o problems. The UHD CREATOR SW converts my 8bit videos to 10 bit and it was a very slow, 2 frames per second conversion until a GTX1060 board was added. Now conversion is app 2X real time.

I do burn the resulting files with IMG burn, my 6 year old ROXIO SW works fine too for BR burning.

So far that is all there is and it may just stay that way. I bought UHD CREATOR as a single program only.

Eugene

As Marke pointed out some UHD players can play UHD material if it is recorded as a HEVC file.My Samsung can and that was a stop gap until UHD CREATOR came along. However Sony and Phillips player can not play video files recorded on BR.

Popping up this.

I own a Samsung K8500 UHD Player, and i´m very interested on UHD Authoring.

So you are saying UHD Creator, let´s say, from an MKV 3840x2160 file, will create a UHD BD structure u can later burn with imgburn (as BD Video) and it will play correctly.

That sounds awesome.
