Hi all
The above PC is a work PC, and it was working fine, and then all of a sudden when switched on it posted "no operating system", rebooted and now wont post at all with just two beeps and a nothing on the screen.

I have tried booting from the OB graphics, reseating the RAM, and swapping over the hard drive but it still wont post at all (nothing apart from two beebs)

I've looked at the motherboard manual, and other online research suggests that the bios has been badly flashed and it's a know issue with Lenovo, and the only soloution for this problem is to reset the bios and re-install with new bios software from a CD, only I don't have any. Plenty of USB's but no discs.

Is this the only option?

Sorry if the post is a bit vague, any help appreciated - source of reference I have found

Update, I followed the steps to booting with the BIOS Jumpers in pins 2&3, and then booting with the pins in 1&2 (I've not reflashed it with any software, as I have no disks) and then it posted fine (only an error to say the date was wrong) - there was no hard drive in at this stage. and now I've booted with the hard disk in and it's booted to windows.....it may be fixed but is this a sign the hard drive is on it's way out?

On the date issue is the cmos battery good?

If you needed to update bios then you can do that from a usb stick.

I'm not that sure, to be honest I have not considered that in all fairness. I've left it switched off over night and it's working fine this morning.

It's possibly just one of those things that can happen from time to time. The fact that it's working now, and assume date is correct, then it suggests the cmos battery is ok. You can get all the latest drivers and bios file from the lenovo site

Home - PC Support - GB

Desktops & All-in-Ones tab
Select Subseries - Edge 72 Destops (Think Center)
View All - Top Solutions Top Downloads

This gets you a list of all drivers and bios files available for manual update

But you can have a scan and auto update carried out by their facility

Flash BIOS update - ThinkCentre Edge 72z and ThinkCentre M72z - GB

You can also get a hardware diagnostic scan done from their site
