Mirroring

Evening all

This could be a stupid question, so please excuse me.

I recently 'mirrored' my laptop to my Panasonic Smart TV. The image is fine and I can see my laptop display on my TV but when I start a video, there is no sound coming from the TV, just the laptop.

Do I need a cable connected to transmit the sound from the laptop to the TV? Or what am I doing wrong please?

You haven't given a great deal of detail.

Assuming you're using some version of windows and mirroring using the miracast protocol then it may be that the miracast sound device isn't being selected as default in the playback devices tab of sound settings on the laptop.
