Oh wow I didn’t realise they had gone up so much. Apologies for the misinformation? I’d assume they would be going down due to the 9th hen being released?

That's pretty much everything I need. I have one drive that's usb3 in a caddy but I would guess every motherboard has usb3 ports now. My case can take an atx motherboard so space isn't an issue. My keyboard is a Logitech edge which is Bluetooth but it works from a dongle.

I don't mind spending more money if its necessary. Its just when I built the current machine I went way overkill at the time. I convinced myself I would be playing 3d games with an NVidia projector, I did play a game once and never bothered again with pc gaming. Its not that it wasn't good its just I am more a retro gamer neo geo, snes man.

I’m not up to speed with amd but the main reason I went with intel was due to the sgx verication needed for uhd content on pc’s. it’s an intel thing and Is needed for full uhd playback so I would suggest it’s something to keep in mind if future proofing

I did get around this with my 1070 but was flaky.

Pop over to one of the main computer parts suppliers as they all have a selection of computers for specific jobs, (You can also customise them if there is anything specific you want) they will also build one to your specification if you want. (Believe it or not it’s usually cheaper to have one pre-built by these company’s then to build one yourself these days, plus you get a warrantee)

If you still want to build one yourself, pop down to your local newsagent and pick up one of the many PC build mags to show you what is available and the typical prices.

SGX is name for the specific Intel implementation, AMD implements similar technologies under different abbreviations.

If you're talking about the Playready 3.0 DRM used by the likes of Netflix UHD then that is definitely supported by CPUs like the Ryzen 2200G and 2400G.

I do not believe this is the case for blu ray uhd content and would advise the op to investigate further before making a purchase. cyberlink for example will not read any disc or file without the sgx verification.

Thank you all for the pointers. I have been convinced that a new system is the way to go. I will now do some research on both the amd and intel systems and take it from there.
