Thanks - unfortunately, that video shows you how to connect two routers via ethernet, for the purposes of extending your wireless signal.

What I wanted to do was connect two routers wirelessly, so the slave router could pass internet to devices plugged into it.

The jury is still out on the 2704n - I have managed to delve into the expert settings and there is nothing that seems to allow the use of this particular model as a bridge client.

I have posted on Plusnet's forum for further device but it does, unfortunately, look like this device either cannot be used in this way or it can (but not without some serious messing about with).

If you run out of routers to try, I've a couple that that might help.  One is a WD My Net N750 running DD-WRT if you fancy fiddling around, the other is a Maplin-branded travel router with Ethernet port like this:

TravelMate Wi-Fi USB Travel Adapter with Wi-Fi Router - Merlin Digital

The travel router has a specific mode to connect from WiFi->Ethernet, I've just tried it and it took a whole 30 seconds to set up and work.
