If your SNR is 12 it's there for a reason, lowering it to 6 could make it incredibly unstable as your line attenuation is high. But you won't know until you change it and monitor any errors that are occurring.

Also if your line has been hard set to 12db by your CP you won't be able to change it anyway if you bought a new router which if you have ever had an engineer out to look at your broadband it probably has been.

Hi once again.
Attached are 2 more screenshots.
1st shows figures obtained using the Plusnet modem/router
2nd shows figures obtained using Netgear DM200 modem with Orbi router

Quite a difference. These were obtained using speedtest.net which is the usual speedtest I run.
I also ran tests using other providers and in all instances obtained figures of around 2.5/2.6Mbps
download and 0.5Mbps upload. So would assume the speedtest.net/ Plusnet setup is an anomally.
To confirm this I uploaded one of the files numerous times on both setups. Each time the plusnet came out slightly better, upload average time of 35s versus the Netgear time of 37s, so no great difference worth bothering about. So putting my mathematical cap on and using an average upload time of 36s gives by my reckoning an upload speed of 0.56Mbps which tallies reasonable well with the figures reported except for the Plusnet anomally which remains a mystery.
So I do not see my need to change the modem as in all likelihood will not make much difference if any.

Really strange you're seeing nearly 1.6 Mbps in upload speedtests yet your upload connection rate is 0.576 Mbps. Also bog standard ADSL2  has a max upload of around 1.2 Mbps and I very much doubt Plusnet are using ADSL2  Annex M on their residential service - Annex M offers around up 2 Mbps upload and is usually offered on business connections. I would just stick with the Netgear modem/router
