Excellent... and to the point short tutorial, they may be simple basics but nontheless is often overlooked by those newer members starting out, and a good reminder to some of us olduns too..

Some good illustrations, which people can easily understand... nice one!.

BTW, are you into the Motor Cycle racing scene, or were the pics used merely to illustrate.   Reason I ask, ex-motorcyclist myself, and the wife and I still make the time to visit the TT races every year... just wondered.?

I took all of the photos and I am also a keen motorcyclist too.
The one of Rossi was taken in Assen a couple of years ago. The other in Scarborough at Olivers mount.

I have a GSXR600 track bike and an Aprillia Mille RSV1000 for road use.

Excellent advice. I think you should add more to this thread and have it stickied as a tutorial on the basics rather than starting a new thread for each subject

Thats a tutorial in itself, but the abreviated version is...
Set your camera to shoot multi shots, and to not lock the focus, then snap away hundreds of shots in the hope that one is in focus.

The thing is with photographers is that they only show you their good shots, and not the hundreds upon hundreds that they have deleted. If anyone tells you that all their photos are keepers they either dont have high standards or they are lying...

This tutorial shows the MINIMUM BASICS that people NEED to learn, believe me it gets trickier, so that would bog this thread down and would make the additional tutorials harder to find quickly.

Its funny, but if you have a great photo, people who see it say 'thats a great photo, you must have a good camera', not 'thats a great photo, you must be talented', lol.

It was on this very forum that an older member of the forums got me thinking about the rule of thirds and also understanding some simple things about taking pictures. I take my hat off to anyone who spends time to help anyone else use a camera.

Can I borrow your dog
