Pre-ordered the special edition for my partner, I’m quite interested in playing with it.

It does look like a lot of tech for the money and if it wasn't for Apple, I'd probably upgrade.  FitBit support is excellent.

I've been a FitBit customer since January 2015 when I got a Charge 1.  Upgraded to a Charge 2 upon release and had this replaced a couple of times.

Bought the wife FitBit Flex and then an Aria.  However, a couple of years back I bought her an Apple Watch Series 2, and I think I am going to ditch the FitBit EcoSystem and go with Apple myself with the series 4.  Just so we can compete against each other in challenges etc.

I also had a good few Fitbit devices...started with the Flex myself, upgraded to the Charge HR (passing the Flex to the wife), then a Charge 2....

Also had an Apple Watch s0 from launch and kept that until a few months back when I upgraded to a S3 as they were on a super cheap deal....

All the time I was also wearing my Fitbit devices daily...so wearing two watches all the time (regardless of the amount of stick and questions "Why are you wearing two watches?")

After a few months of wearing the Fitbit Charge 2 AND the AW3, I decided that the Fitbit was no longer needed.  In truth I was really only wearing it and keeping up with my activity as both my mum and dad also had Fitbit's....

I actually sold it a few days ago for £70 with a big collection of third party bands that I have accumulated over time.

I do agree the Fitbit products are great value, they work very well and their CS is amazing...but as an long term Apple user with multiple products...the Apple Watch now does absolutely everything that is needed..

Did anyone end up getting a Charge 3? How is it a few months in?

I’m after a fitness tracker-type thing and won’t stretch to an Apple Watch. This would fit the bill but there seem to be a large number of people with issues on Fitbit’s forums and quite a few negative reviews on Amazon.

If it’s a no-go I might go for the Flex 2 at a third of the price as I don’t need anything too advanced on my wrist. Screen would be nice, though.

I picked one up after Christmas and I've found it a fantastic upgrade from my old Charge HR. The screen in particular is a big step up and I'm impressed by the features this new model has. Having notifications from my phone has been an eye-opener too, never thought that would be useful but it's actually very handy. It's almost making me want an iWatch to see what else I never knew I needed in my life, but I'll stick with FitBit for the time being as I got the wife a Charge 2 for Xmas and we're having fun trying to out do each other on the step counter

I have the one with contactless payments, had it since launch and never had any issues with it at all.

I really want an Apple Watch. I'm in quite deep with Apple, having an iPhone, iPad, Apple TVs and a Mac, and know it would work seamlessly and do all I want from a fitness tracker plus so much more – and stuff that I don't even know I need it to do, like you say.

But I can't justify £270 for a last-gen model, let alone £400 for the latest one. And at that price I'd just be too terrified of damaging it to actually wear it out of the house, never mind doing something active with it on.

I want something where I can see how active I've been and that will prompt me to move more. I think I'll go for the Special Edition Charge 3, not so much for the contactless payments but because you get another strap included for a fiver.

Thanks, both, much appreciated.
