You get both zoom and prime pancakes - it just seems to refer to a type of design resulting in a smaller length profile when the lens "collapses" when powered off for zoom pancakes - just like compact tele-zooms really - no real difference in lenses just because the body is "nominated" as a CSC - just a body without a mirror really...  which normally means the body can be slimmer and the lens flange to sensor distance reduced

Thanks. What I meant is, do pancakes offer any superior or inferior IQ? Also, if they collapse can you still use the zoom and focus rings as per usual?

only zoom pancakes collapse of course - I can't personally comment on the IQ issues but I'm guessing" that as with most things in life you compromise something to get the compactness as I'd think that pancake lenses will tend to be "simpler" optical designs as they are inherently likely to have less lens elements in their design but I look forward to some of the geeks telling us the real story

You can buy the Canon EOS M 18-55 kit for just £239 inc VAT at the moment in Costco which is a great bargain if you have membership or know someone who has.

There are cheap 3rd party EF lens adapters or Canon ones separated from kits on eBay.
The 22mm and 11-22mm lenses are terrific VFM too.

If small size is the priority then the Pansonic GM1 is about as small as an icl csc gets and the kit lens is pretty good: Panasonic Lumix GM1 review | Cameralabs

You can get it new (but grey import) for £435: Panasonic Cameras

If, like me you prefer a viewfinder and more dslr shaped ergonomics, then Wilkinson and T4 have the Panasonic G5   14-42 lens for £250 or with the 45-150 lens thrown in as well, for £400:

Panasonic G5 & 14-42mm & 45-150mm Lenses **UK DEALER** **UK STOCK** | eBay

The Nex 6 is good value now at £350 body only - (half the £700 price it was launched at) if you can live with the more limited selection of decent lenses compared to m43. A Nex 6 and a Sigma 30mm f2.8 would make a very nice combination if you don't mind the fixed focal length.

I wonder if that suggests a replacement soon?

For the Canon EOS M?

They have already released the M2, but for some reason decided not to make it available outside of Asia.
The main reason suggested is that mirrorless sales are still far below DSLR sales outside of Asia, and whilst Canon DSLRs are still selling quite nicely in the EU and US it seems Canon didn't want to rock the boat with another camera they thought still wouldn't be competitive enough at the price they would have to sell it for.

So the suggestion is they skipped the M2 in EU and US and will wait for the next model but no one really knows when and what it will be.
