Quick update - response back from Jessops with an initial quote of £58 to repair the camera. So I've said go ahead !! Hopefully its an easy fix and I can finally start using it in earnest...once I've learned about DSLRs

Picked up my Nikon from Jessops at lunchtime. All fixed Looks like they send it off to Nikon's repair centre in Richmond. They fixed the buttons, replaced the rubber grips and give it a little clean, so now looks in decent nick ! £73 all in.....not too bad I suppose !

Now to start learning how to take photos !!!
