Where do I start with this latest film by Peter Strickland? I expected weird having seen his previous two movies Berberian Sound Machine and The Duke of Burgundy. It's basic premise is a ghost story, but if marketed as a horror film, many people will be disappointed. I wasn't. I found it absolutely hilarious. It's effectively two episodes of a combination of Tales of the Unexoected and The League of Gentlemen (think the joke shop owner and his false arm episode and you're not too far wrong). Both 'episodes' revolve around a red dress in a department store. Buy it, and you'll wish you hadn't. For me it was twisted, dark comedy - no real surprise that Ben Wheatley (think Kill List, not Free Fire) was Executive Producer. Easily passed the 6, 10 and even 20 laugh test. But half the audience didn't laugh once. Clearly a marmite film, and I loved it. 8 out of ten
score 8/10
