Sachin tendulkar retires

It's been really fascinating watching him over the years. When he played his 1st Test innings here at Lord's he looked really rash, trying to hit everything for a boundary.

Then in the next Test he played a really mature innings and got his maiden century. I couldn't believe the change over one Test match. I then watched him become the best all round batsman in world cricket.

It's been interesting watching him adapt to age and injury. There was a phase when he used to keep getting out playing attacking shots so he changed his game to a more defensive one and for a while wasn't the same batsman.

Latterly he then restarted his attacking game again. For the last couple of years he's not quite been his old self but that's to be expected with age etc.

A great one day player too. I'll miss watching him come out to bat.

A great talent, one of the best ever but the question i ask is did he with his talent deliver enough for his team? A player who seemed more obliged with individual records, i'd have Brian Charles Lara before him but it's been a joy watching the little master at times and sadly the retirement was overdue 2 years ago.

Are you serious? He played for his country & team from the age of 16 for a nearly a quarter of a century he has always been first & foremost a team player - the records & evidence proves that time & time again & nearly all the experts concur with this.

He never sought or bathed in the limelight unlike some others, remained dignified, humble, honourable & entirely sportsmanlike throughout & had to do it with the pressures & expectations of over a billion people.

Even Lara & Bradman have pretty much alluded that he was the best the game has ever seen.

Great sportsman, holds almost every batting record there is. Best test batsman IMO is Dravid though.

quality batting all round
and bailey looks quality for australia
but kohli, sharma etc were class especially sharma yesterday

Out for 74 in his final Test. Looks like it'll probably be his final innings too.

Hi,

I was really hoping he would score enough runs to reach the 16000 mark or even a century but it was not to be - still a very good innings though.

A Living legend a born player, we will miss him very much for what he has done for India which no one has ever done.And hope he has a better second innings after his retirement.

Great player and he gave a wonderfully humble speech after his final test.

I find myself almost bewildered to think that i saw him play some exhibition/benefit match for Yorkshire as their first ever overseas player at the Brighouse Cricket Ground when he was just 19 years of age... and now he's retired!
