This starts today at 1 for all the snooker fans.

I always love the masters as its all killer no filler.

Great opening match as well as Ding has dropped out the top 8 so faces a top 8 seed right away.

Robertson was playing well earlier in the week in the championship but Ding won a ptc before xmas also so could be a great match.

And then Allen is on later, always fun to watch and to see what he says before or after the match in recent times.  He seems to be the lone voice against Barry Hearn or at least the only one who says anything in front of the cameras.

Carter played really well the other to win his group and played 3 straight matches and was in the zone for about 3  hours, normally I would never back him to win but seeing as Ronnie's not around Carter has a chance now.

Nice week of snooker ahead.

Any match with Ding can hardly be called "great". Technically he can play, but he is too shot shy, erring on defensive and indecisiveness in shot selection

BBC once again shocking with their television coverage, not even on red button when it goes off main channel and people have to go online. As a lifelong fan this is the worst I have known it.

I agree with you on the coverage but not Ding.  BBC made a big statement over doing a fresh deal and then do that on day 1 totally ridiculous. Its been rubbish since the red button went to one stream and now is beyond a joke they should just give up on it.

Ding justs plays a bit more tactical game than some imo, he has had some great matches his loss to Ronnie in the 2007 masters final was a great sporting moment maybe not for the actual play of Ding but overall.  I've seen some other good matches from him as well but think he is often under so much pressure from back home it does get to him.

I think he made a mistake after that teaming up with Ebdon because before then he a lot more attacking.  He was unlucky yesterday a couple of ball out/in of position and he would have won 6-4 or 6-5.

Robertson vs Allen will be a good match though, I am working though so will have to record and hope for the best ! will tape bbc feed, 301 feed and maybe capture the webstream just to be sure.

The Masters went totally past me, i only realised it was on as i was flicking through the TV yesterday, but now i have a week of Snooker

The two Mark's last night was an easy victory really for Mark Allen especially starting off with a 136.
I wouldn't have put Mark Davis in the top 16 if i had to vision the top 16 and i dont mean to do him a disservice but he has earned his place there but for me he doesn't come across as a top 16 player.

Typical that Higgins V Carter is this afternoon so am going to miss that

Davis should be just outside really if Stephen Lee wasn'y suspended or Ronnie was taking part. He has been bumped up a couple of places by this but has like you said he has been playing well the last year to earn those points.

I wondered why there was no wildcard entries this year, did they only do it for Jimmy White and London based fans? Bit unfair as I would have liked to see Brecel and Ronnie given wildcard entries.

That would have been difficult for the organisers considering Ronnie is on his annual self-imposed exile from the sport

There is nothing wrong with being tactical but Ding is too slow. imo he sometimes over-thinks shots and that may not be of assistance always when the cameras and audience are following you

So Higgins went through yesterday.

Last nights match was a close affair between Dott and Macguire. Dott's ball positioning is all over the place, but he can sure pot from some accute angles. It was a good match last night though, quite long and some very scrappy frames. I thought Macguire was going to just come through as he seemed to be really focussed after conceding the eighth frame i think it was.

This afternoon is the young rock star of snooker who i hope goes through.
Tonight is Shaun Murphy v Ricky Walden, hopefully Shaun can go through.

Not a great fan of Murphy, but he held it together so well there. Well done. Great fight back.
