This morning, while cruising various news sites for Olympic news, I came across a few articles (and readers comments) by Australians who are extremely angry about their Olympic performance so far. The more I read, the more I realised this was not isolated and they appear to be having somewhat of a national crisis.

But what struck me the most is that they are far more concerned with beating us than anything else. Of course there has always been a big sporting rivalry, but the comments are frequently "the Brits are laughing at us". Are we? I have not seen any deriding of the Australian's, but they seem sure that we are all loving and reveling in their lack of gold medals. I have not heard anyone who is that concerned about the Australian performance.

Just wondering if any Australians are reading and shed some light on this? Why do they really care so much about beating the British? Any why to they think we care so much?

(I know, I know, ex colony and all that- but so is half the world. But only autralia seems to have such a complex).

Oh, yes, I am loving the fact that they are under performing so badly. You should hear my Aussie MD every time they beat us at cricket.
I think that Yorkshire are ahead of the Aussies in the medal table now

Sally Pearson and Anna Mears should take a little of the bitterness out of the pill they been choking on.

Bitter is the word. Jesus, going by comments on the Guardian it must be the chip on their shoulder slowing them down.

What is wrong with being the bridesmaid? Silver could catch on. Maybe.

Also noting Germany and Russia have been noticeably the nearly (wo)men of the Games

Pearson just needs to stay clear over the hurdles and she should give the WR a good go!
