Hi, so we have booked the holiday Turkey Anatlaya in July first one abroad for about 10 years.

We know what luggage weights we can take but unsure about what we can and can't take.

I have read we can't put things like tablets in the hold luggage? are iPads ok in the cabin?
I know about the 100ml restrictions for fluids as well.
But the rest is unclear. The 2 boys we are taking will want to take their chargers for their phones is this allowed?

I'm also guessing the mrs can stick her hairdryer and straighteners in the hold? last thing I want is her stuff to not be loaded.

Any tips on what suitcases to buy or avoid as well ours are very old and heavy and full of old clothes so will be buying new. I've seen the hold bags one of the other members got so will probably get 1 or 2 of these. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B075V3FDTG/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_3?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A2ODPP090AKJCG  unless of course any other ideas.

Thanks for any info offered.

Keep keys, tickets, passports in hand luggage or on you. It might not happen but imagine your suitcases disappear. Initially hand luggage might be all you have.

Make sure you have a plug converter for where you are going.

I lay kit on the bed first then pack it. Depends what you are doing but you want something smart, something to lay by the pool in, something to swim in. Beyond that it's up to you.

I take a laptop/tablet in hand luggage. Laptops are designed to work anywhere regardless of Hz or voltage. Then the USBs on that can charge, phones, cameras, kindles.

Check with your airline if you are really unsure.  Anything valuable (this definitely includes iPads) should go in hand luggage in case the hold luggage goes missing/someone rifles through the hold luggage look for things to steal.  Chargers are no problem.  The thing about no iPads in the hold is down to lithium battery regulations.  Things with those batteries should be in the cabin in case the batteries decide to catch fire.

My laptop has a HDMI out. If there's a TV in your room it will probably have HDMI in. I take a HDMI cable. At the end of the day you could watch photos taken, watch films, whatever's on the laptop through the TV.

If you want to use your phone abroad check with your phone company. How much it will cost etc. Otherwise you can get Wi-Fi in your hotel, in bars etc.

When I flew last year you could not take charge banks of any kind in any luggage.
iPads and phones bigger than a certain size could go in the cabin on the way out but had to go in the hold on the way back.

With Turkey just remember that when you are out and about everything for sale is usually set at double what they want for it so don't be afraid to haggle and haggle hard.  Its not rude to do so out there and they expect it.

If you're after large suitcases, have a look at the IT Luggage range. Ours have survived several long haul, multi flight trips so far without any signs of damage. They're quite light so the suitcase itself does not take up much of your luggage allowance.

Don't forget to pack clothes across the suitcases (don't have a his and hers) in case one of the cases goes missing. We learned that lesson the hard way!
