The FTTP is still at the wrong end of my long driveway.

No worries. The change in the system merely seems to reflect the change in plan names. The average speeds I wouldn’t worry about as long as it says Superfast fibre broadband that should be FTTP.

Superfast in UK/European Jargon is generally any connection or package over 24-30Mbps. Over 100Mbps and it becomes Ultrafast.

I wouldn't base anything on the BT Retail's package names though.

I know nothing about BT's system but as the engineery type I'd interpret that space as a higher order delimiter than the dashes, i.e. something like:
Category: Broadband FTTC & FTTP
Specifics: Broadband Active FTTP NoSIM.

I guess the NoSIM bit is probably referring to "simultaneous provide" which is the activation of a broadband and phone service at the same time. I'm not sure whether you took the fibre home phone package, if you did you might want to query it but I don't know how simultaneous provide works with FTTP.

I guess the Active is just Activation or similar, it's not bringing up any other associations for me.

As it turns out they had to cancel the original order and place a new one. Something to do with getting the Systems to accept things. It all seems so like dealing with 2 Super Computers. BT & Openreach. Charge Band 5 for costs.

Package - Broadband and Calls
Broadband - Superfast Fibre 1 Unlimited
Your broadband will start by midnight on:
18 Dec 2018

Want to get online before then? You can use any of our Wi-Fi hotspots now.

How fast will it be?
We estimate your average download speed will be 50Mbps and your average upload speed will be 9Mbps.

Yeh they decided here to give us national broadband (was to be FTTP except rural then politically changed to a mixture of technology for the “last mile”) and decreed the system would all be Superfast defined by 25Mbps or more.  If we take the National Broadband Network connection and service the service providers all buy capacity and tier speeds from the NBN who wholesale. They can’t add any names to the plans - they are NBN 12 (25, 50 or 100) so there is no confusion (supposedly).

We have some private providers who have their own infrastructure such as HFC (cable) and FTTP  and they certainly moved to call plans Superfast and ultrafast along the same lines as there.
