Which is the one to go for? I know, different games on each. I just want one that delivers in quality. My kid wants one but not sure which. None of her friends have a console yet. She is 12

Got to buy a TV too! 46" (any ideas?)

Common TV sizes at the moment are 40", 43", 49" and 50", there aren't many 46" ones around, just older generic models.

You might be better off asking a mod to move this topic to the gaming forum:
Video Gaming Forums | AVForums

Both are comparable though. It really is about the games she wants to play.

In purely gaming terms I'd go for a PS4 slim which is the best value in terms of price to performance as well as having access to the excellent library of games available on PS4. There are also a lot more PS4 owners so it's more likely that people she knows will have that over Xbox One.

In general terms the Xbox One X delivers the best performance followed by PS4 Pro then the standard (slim) PS4 followed by Xbox One S.

PS4 doesn't play 4k bluray discs whereas both Xbox One X & Xbox One S do. The original Xbox One doesn't but it's discontinued at retail now. They all play dvds & standard blurays. The PS4 doesn't play music cds - I think Xbox does but am not 100%.

Good luck!

It's not as complicated as it seems. If you just want to get the best games console for her then I would personally go for the PS4 slim as it has the larger install base and better games library.

I don't know if you've considered a Nintendo Switch but they are very popular too and very well suited to younger gamers. It's a fantastic console.

In that case you're best to avoid Nintendo Switch.

Xbox One S or X is the best multimedia player as it plays 4k blurays.

PS4 has the best games library with quite a few excellent exclusives. It plays normal blurays & dvds but not 4k discs.

If you're not bothered about 4k bluray discs then PS4 is the best option. If you want a 4k disc player at the cost of slightly compromising the gaming side of things then Xbox One S or X is the one to go for.

The chances are that most other kids will have or end up with PS4 as it has double the user base of Xbox One. Let us know what you end up going for.

@Oldgit53

Sorry! I've just re-read my very first reply in which I had mistakenly typed that PS4 plays 4k bluray disks, which it does not. I have corrected that now.

Both consoles have a big gaming catalogue. PS4 has more exclusives. X Box plays UHDs.

I doubt you'd be disappointed with either.
