I am tempted to get a new one. I have a Kindle keyboard and still use it regularly. Amazon now has a new model.

My other half broke the screen on her old Kindle Keyboard recently. We looked into DIY repairs or sending it off but it was going to be £40either way.

So she contacted Amazon who rightly said it was out of warranty but they'd do her a deal on a Touch (£1 off!) or a refurb Paperwhite (£75). We thought the latter was pretty decent, with a 1 year warranty.

The first Paperwhite they sent was non-responsive, back it went. data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7 Second one is working perfectly.

Got my new Kindle as mentioned, and just jailbroke it.

How to Jailbreak Your Kindle Paperwhite for Screensavers, Apps, and More

There are three steps : Jailbreak, Python install, Screensaver hack.

I only wanted the cover option - why is this not standard? data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

.................and I cant get it to work. Will try again later.

Happy with my new one - the light bleed is far less pronounced, and I now noticed that my original kindle on full light (something I never do) is really pink, while the new one is white all over.

I contemplated jail breaking for the collections manager plugin. Not bitten the bullet yet though. Have over 500 books in my kindle in managed collections and don't to bugger it up

Don't see a need to upgrade

My GF bought me a Kindle PW for my birthday last month (not the v2).

I love it. It's re-kindled (no pun intended data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7) my love of reading.

I was using my iPad (mk1) as an eReader using the iBooks app, and it's really good, but the weight got to me at times - especially with the case still on.

Still love the iPad for everything else, but the Kindle wins the eReader "battle" for me.

I use my iPad for reading magazines but not books. The kindle is perfect for reading outside or in bed.

Only prob is, I've been replacing all my paper books with ebooks and now have two shevles of books that don't have an electronic version data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

I gave hundreds of books to a near by prison

I gave a load of paperbacks to charity, and to a free book shop.
