Not sure what this has to do with the GE, but Brexit means; to leave the European Union. Or to put it simplistically notification of our cancellation of our membership. What the consequences will be, who knows, the future is what we make it....Mine looks bright, even thought I'm at risk of being kicked out...

Yes, but if you read almost every article written about the reasons for bringing in the Act, one cited is that it would prevent snap elections being called for political gain. Which is what the PM has done today.
Example from the FT online:
Then in 2011, as part of the coalition government’s programme, a Fixed-term Parliaments Act was passed. The intention was to take the politics out of the dissolution of parliament. There would no longer be the risk of a snap general election.
And from The New Statesman:
During his premiership, Cameron specifically introduced measures to prevent governments from tactically calling elections, and instead legislated for a five-year fixed-term parliament, which would make the next general election 2020.
Why? Article 50 has already been issued, we are leaving the EU...

I only care for what the act actually say, not how professional commentators choose to interpret the reasons for it. The reason is a nice discussion topic, but what matters is what the act actually states.
And it all had to do with the dates, the PM can't do this without the support of the other parties, therefore it is doing actually what it says it is doing, and actually also supporting clearly who you quoted from TNS and possibly from the FT online (but that could be down to interpretation).

Everyone would have known what they were voting for in the referendum and we wouldn't be in this position.
I agree it does have a significant influence on this GE .
For someone as I who voted UKIP at the last GE because I wanted a reforendum on EUmembership and got the result I wanted with Brexit.
This GE has a lot to do with Brexit for us , as in a government in the strongest position possible to get the job done in negotiations with the EU. For me only a strong Conservativegovernment with a strong mandate can do this , hence the early GE
So yeah I agree , a lot of people will be voting on brexit once again at this GE . But for different reasons as it's a done deal.
Are you talking about the FTPA and the request for an early election having to go through Parliamentary process? If so, then if the opposition are willing to so easily acquiesce to the Government benches then why bother with the Act anyway?
