running a EVGA 1080 FTW2 with the 11GHzbios update which was a good price at them time with a 25 quid re-bait,
I doubt ill be jumping ship as the only time its stressed is on a benchmark, be better to wait, also i like the RGB on the card and the back plate lol
thing is they waffle on about new instruction sets, yet you do not see that until the card that replaces the one that pushed it.
amd don't have an answer, i would wait if you need a new card that is

Game development and innovation is stagnant. There's been no advances since ganes like fallout 4 and witcher 3. Of course devs can deliberately make games artificially more demanding in order to people to buy more powerful gpuThis is a nasty manipulation of the market
Nvidia will hold off as long as they can before releasing a new gen of gpu as they know its unnecessary at presentThey also know that amd aren't in the equation at present as their cards are second rate compared to Nvidia.
Looking at future game releases there's nothing coming out that suggests that the current paucity of innovation is ending

If you game at 1080p you are right. If you game at 4K or have your eye on the pimax 8k vrthe.n you need every bit of performance u can get

Its unfortunate the state of the gpu market atm, our hopes can only lie in amds 7nm tech delivering something good.
But thats still a while off, its gonna be a long wait.
I am interested in what the 11xx line can do but atm for me its all about price.
If the new cards are relatively cheap i might jump at them but if older cards drop in price I would go with them instead.
I'm betting on new cards being quite pricey, so i'm keeping my eye on current 1080ti for time being.

Naw, they'll probably celebrate by releasing another stupid Star Wars-themed 1080Ti or something.

seems NV link is confirmed.... i hope it comes with an adapter for nvlink to hdmi/dvi as otherwise i will struggle for my current oculus rift

jassco Publish time 27-11-2019 05:40:38

My understanding is that nvlink is an alternative to PCI-E, not a connector to external displays. So you should be fine data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

Sorry my mistake I meant the virtual link connector

The problem with both Nvidia and Intel is that they have no real competition, so we get these drip fed updates with over expensive products.
