I agree, I think we should all show some sort of ID when we vote.

However, comparing a political vote to a private event isn’t a direct comparison.  I don’t have to pay an entry fee to go into a voting centre for one.

You have needed an ID to vote in NI since 1985 and it has had no impact on turnout.

That’s because a parcel would normally be delivered direct to your home address.  So, if you weren’t in, you have to go and collect it and prove you live at that address, a bit like opening the front door when the postman tries to deliver it in the first place..

Why? If there was no parcel for me how would someone know to claim it anyway? How would they know it was even there?

Regardless, this is from the Electoral Commission, take it up with them.
