The tides are turning from what to what? You've always posted a strong opinion that Oculus games weren't worth having and Steam was the dominant force, so surely the tides don't need to turn?

There's no going back to what?

Why even bother? As far as I can see, Steam will continue to sell, and profit from, games for most HMDs.

Oculus will continue to sell and profit from games only for Oculus HMDs.

Nobody (here) knows why Oculus do not, or can not, broaden their scope for profit - and limit Valve's scope for profit - by supporting other HMDs.

Everything else - and actually everything in this post too - is entirely speculation.

The point is that Oculus headsets to have access to Skyrim and Fallout though so I'm not sure what point you're trying to drive home.

The steam solution for Rift headsets is excellent. I haven't used Revive but the steamVR experience on my Oculus headsets, for the few games which don't have native Oculus support, is great. In regards to games such as Skyrim, the use of ASW allows Oculus headsets last gen to load mod after mod and experience better playability than Vives.

No tide is sadly turning in anyone's favour. Big name developers are more commonly packaging Oculus SDK's into their steam games.

The tide can definitely turn if Valve were to release their big three titles and those games be good. They can just release a half arsed implementation for Oculus and windows VR headsets and prioritise the Index. With the Index giving a flawless smooth experience for their exclusive titles.. when they do that, I'm buying an Index.

As it stands, there is no tide moving towards Steam over Oculus's exclusive title. There are a slew of announced exclusive fantastic looking Oculus exclusives. All Steam has had is a botched launch of NMS which plays like rubbish on the Index and the Rift S on day 1 and 3 unreleased valve games.

On the software side of things, Valve holds all the cards. If they stretched there 3 VR games to 6, and they continue to pump out title after title, I have NO DOUBT they will destroy Oculus. Oculus have the best in class software tech but their game design ability is just no where near Valves. Valve made Half life 2, TF2 and Portal 2. Those are 3 of the biggest best gaming experiences of our generation, and despite years of VR experience in developing and publishing VR titles, I don't think Oculus have released a game which competes with those 3.

Valve has a wrapper, Oculus has Revive. Rift headsets are not native to Steam as Index is not native to Oculus.

Skyrim can be as modded for Vive users as it can be for Rift. There shouldn’t be any difference.

The tide has turned when you see a Studios who has had a big input into Oculuses exclusives going to Sony.

The Oculus Store is VR only which is only 0.5% the size of Steam max. So if any of the other 99.5 of games on Steam decide to support VR they’ll do it on Steam. So going forward Steam will get more and more VR support from third party devs. Oculus dont have that back catalog of titles and Games like NMS won’t appear on the Oculus Store for this reason unless they hand out another big wad of Facebook cash. That’s been their business model now for over 3 years.

It all adds up to having multiple choices regardless of what flavour headset you go for.

And lets be honest if it wasn't Facebook and Oculus, VR would be an even more niche past time slowly dwindling away much like 3D tv.

That's an assumption on  your behalf, not any kind of fact. You don't know what stores any developers will choose to sell their software on.

How long have you been predicting the end of the Oculus store for now?

Actually, if anything, developers will be more likely to release on all 5 stores - the Oculus Store, Steam, VivePort, Epic Store and the PlayStation Store.

And if they were going to release on one exclusively then the Epic Store would be their best bet (assuming it was a title properly marketed) because they'll get more cash from each sale.

Epic store is an interesting point. Whilst I am not a fan of nabbing games either on steam or advertised as.going onto steam and making them epic exclusives I am hoping this increased competition will force valve to up their game

I think there are VR games on GOG? Ubi have released some VR games so there are likely VR games on UPlay. Origin will likely have something sooner or later too.
