Yeah he's been a different class this week and is certainly one of the few BDO players who would hold his own in the PDC.  He's shown his quality, beating Wade in the 2010 Grand Slam and I would like to see him move across.  I think if he took a more professional approach to darts then he could be in the top 5 and get his averages above the 100 mark on a regular basis.  O'Shea was way below his best today though and just doesn't seem to be able to perform at his best in finals.  Top bloke though and a handy player when on form and it's a shame the final wasn't more of a contest.

George has potential IMO, he's not been throwing that long and whilst he is inconsistent at the moment, he's still pretty young at 23 and another few years in the BDO could see him get to a reasonable level.

Yeah to be fair it was mismatch that game and Waites would have had to have thrown the worst darts of his life for George to have made any sort of game of it.  It should have been 6-0 really but like you say, Waites did just go off for a set before resuming normal service.  I guess that maintaining the focus is one of the hardest things to do in darts and sport in general when winning so convincingly.

Yeah the one thing I noticed with waites was that for every 140-180 he would hit it could be followed by a 41 or something else considered low. His accuracy on doubles is great for the most part.

Like cas says if he can keep his average high then there is no reason why he can't make a successful switch to the PDC.

Good final today. A bit one sided unfortunately.

It's really sad the way the two organisations are still divided. It seems to me that once a player gets any good and does well in the BDO, they then bugger off to the PDC, only to be beaten by Phil Taylor.

You always get the 'he'd never win in the PDC' type comments too.

But one thing I do MUCH prefer is the crowd during the BDO tournament. I can't stand the PDC crowd!

I'm not sure he'll switch to the PDC listening to the interview afterwoods sounds like he likes his job and to be succesful in the PDC you have to do it full time just for the practise and I think thats the difference between Waites at the moment and if he switched. He's definetely good enough.

1 on the crowds

I agree re: the crowd. Folk just go to the PDC now to get hammered and it's more like a panto than anything else. There's generally still the respect for the players etc. in the BDO.
