I fancy Taylor this year. Boring choice I know, but I think he will make an extra special effort to be the inaugural winner of the Sid Waddell trophy.

I have to say, it was a nice touch to name the trophy after Sid, although I wasn't really a Waddell fan (he was a bit over the top for my liking), but I'm hoping James Wade does well this year, it's just a shame that his form has dipped.

I hope anyone but Taylor wins it as i don't think i could handle another Phil "Sky"  Taylor show (again)
Van Gerwen would be good.

You can't really look past Taylor or Lewis but I wouldn't rule out RVB or Gary Anderson who can be a world beater if he can maintain good form.

Wade is generally a bottler and is not consistently good enough and I never fail to be surprised at his favourite tag in this championship when he does nothing year after year.

Whitlock is always there or thereabouts but it's a big ask against the top two.

Personally, I think it will be RVB or Lewis as I think Taylor has started to slide over the last two years.

Lewis isn't going anywhere in this tournament, he looked a mess in his first round match. Zero chance of winning.

Taylor was awful by his standards, but will only get better and the longer formats suit him.

Barney and Anderson looked good last night, perked up what's been a very dull start to the championship.

Only other player to consider based on current form is van Gerwen. Time will tell if he can maintain that standard over the longer match duration.

From those four, everyone else is just trying to make a decent cheque.

Hoping for a Barney V Van Gerwen final - think it would be a cracker!
Can't believe Lewis missed 2 x double tops for the match!
Great game though

Van Gerwen one dart away from two 9 darters back to back Would have been something if he'd done that. Can't remember anyone else doing that, or coming that close?
