I have always enjoyed adaptations of Lewis Carroll's story, but I truly believe this was the best I have seen yet. The surreal, almost Dali-esquire quality to the visuals inside Wonderland were captivating, and the characters full of life in such a way that even the TV-movie/miniseries qualities failed to fall to their typical flatness. In particular, I was enthralled with Hatter. Andrew Lee Potts, though I have apparently seen him nowhere else before, engaged me instantly as if I'd known his character forever. Both he and Charlie the White Knight carry a touch of insanity/randomness to their characters so well-portrayed by the actors that I felt pulled into their personalities and thus further into their world. Caterina Scorsone is excellent as Alice, and it was refreshing, with her martial-arts training, to see a more kick-butt Alice who isn't ever a stereotypical woman's damsel-in-distress, but is able to hold her own when push comes to shove. Although some portions were--of course--a bit predictable, the journey was no less enjoyable.
