I recently replaced the rear discs and pads on my Seat Leon ,now the car had recently passed its MOT ,and I used the garage we send all our Class 7 stuff to .
I knew there was an issue with either a sticky caliper ,or the inner pad was seized ,upon inspection it was the inner pad seized in the carrier ,and I was very surprised to see just how bad the wear was on the inner side of the disc.
How did this pass the MOT  you ask ? the simple answer is there was no way the examiner could see the inner side of the disc due to the backplate obscuring all view, and looking in from the wheel there was still 2/3 mm of pad showing ,due to it being seized there was barely any material at the bottom of the pad .
The brakes still gave the required effort in the brake test and it passed its mot with flying colours, obviously with me driving it day in day out I could feel there was an issue ,but it was still good enough to pass its test
