I see the statistical point but modification to me sounds like outside the car manufacturers spec, I am sure they will tell you they sold it with summer tyers and you should change to winter tyres when required, by the car manufacturers spec running summer tyres on snow is a modification from their design.

I checked the VW site and they have the following info

From the EVO review of these tyres

This says to me they are summer tyres by classification not all season nor winter?

They have the 'snowflake' markings on the sidewall that is required by countries where it's law to fit winter tyres in winter.
That's the sort of thing an insurance assessor could spot in the blink of an eye.

Is that £25 from a local guy or a national chain, I buy my tyres from Costco but they'll only swap tyres they sold new for safety reasons which seems a bit odd as they now do puncture repairs to any tyre

I rang Bromley tyres who wanted £72 to swap them over so I'm looking for some wheels as I'm not paying that every 6 months

Got a choice of 2 x local places that will do it for that.
Wouldn't approach a national place to do it.

If that's for four tyres, great price.
Bear in mind I only ever change the 2 x front tyres on our cars, I leave the summer tyres on the back.

It was 4 they swapped

I've now got 4 summer michelins with around 6mm on them so I'll look at new wheels in the spring as the ones on the car need refurbing anyway so by the time you factor £200 for a refurb plus the swap costs it makes sense

I find this confusing, they have winter type tread pattern and use the same rubber compound as winter tyres, but they are summer tyres?  I'm with FZR, if they have a snow flake on them they are suitable for winter use.

Me too. Why does the review say they are labelled as summer tyres? The snowflake is moulded in presumably.  is the summer label the paper one that falls off? The reviews comments are pretty unhelpful .....
