Quote:
Melvin Mars awaits his fate on Death Row. He was one of America's most promising football stars until, aged twenty, he was arrested and convicted for the murder of his parents just as he was due to begin a very lucrative contract with the NFL.

When Amos Decker, newly appointed special agent with the FBI, hears the news that Melvin was saved in the final seconds before his execution because someone has confessed to the killings, he persuades his boss to allow him to carry out an investigation into the Mars murders.

There are facts about the case which don't add up, and as the investigation deepens, Decker and his team uncover layer upon layer of lies and deception which are rooted at a time in American history which most would rather forget, but some seem keen to remember.

There is someone out there with a lot to hide, and a secret that everyone is looking for. A race against time ensues because, when revealed, that information threatens to tear apart the corridors of power at the very highest level.

The case proves to be life-changing for both Mars and Decker in ways that neither could ever have imagined.

In my opinion - Avoid.

I really enjoyed the first one I read, Transfer of Power, and still rate it as one of the best of its type I have read (be familiar to anyone who is a fan of Olympus has Fallen or White House down) however I struggled with The Third Option but did finish it

Then I decided to read American Assassin and it was AWFUL (again my opinion) - the chap was Superman, he could do anything, better than anyone, and not even in a likeable way

I belive this was the last book fully written by Rapp before he died and possibly had help, im not sure, but it felt as if it was written by my 16 year old self, gung ho, macho and just not in a good way

I read American Assassin(first story as in prequel if it was his last book), and the training bit was OK but the rest just bored me stiff and from what I seen trailers of the film it does not seem like the book. I just posted it as some other member liked his work.

BTW possibly  Rapp had help from Vince Flynn, as Rapp a character

I do enjoy Baldacci even though a couple of his endings such as Zero Hour and Split Second were not up to the greatness of his other stuff.
I did enjoy the first Amos Decker story and have the paperback of Last Mile.

No is there a lot of characters in it? I got one of those free books with lots of characters and Mrs Doyle be playing hell about it wall to wall and that bad swear word and the plot all over the show.
I cant do with multiple characters only Baldacci the only one that can manage it.

I spotted this by Matthew Reilly and looks free, a historical prequel to his new book

D.F. Jones, Colossus up on Kindle for 99p this was the book the film The Forbin Project was based on.
This is the first in a trilogy which ends more or less the same place as the film so if you thought the place the film ended ok can be read as a stand alone.
The other in the series are available but £2.99.
