Swan Song is immense. McCammon is one of my favourite authors. Read They Thirst and The Wolfs Hour as they are astounding novels.

If you like horror, the Necroscope series by Brian Lumley is the best series of vampire books in print. Can't recommend them highly enough.

Just finished reading the series by Michael Grant including- Gone, Lies, Plague and Hunger, about kids who wake up one morning and find that everyone over the age of 15 has disappeared. Set in a town called Perdido beach, they find they are domed in and start to develop weird powers and also have find a way for the 14 year olds not to disappear as they approach 15. Reminiscent of Stinger, Lord of the Flies and Under the Dome. Very good reads though and I ploughed through them in 2-3 weeks. There's a new one out this summer.

In the meantime I have just started The Hunger Games. Pretty good so far.

I also read Duma Key a couple of months back and found it incredibly boring. What has happened with King?

I really enjoyed the Necroscope series up to book ten (second lost years book), then I got bored half way through and gave up. Are books eleven plus worth reading? If so I'll plan them in after Skagboys and The Wind Through the Keyhole.

Actually no, you've made a decent point there. The first 5 and the 3 Vampire Wars books are the best in the series and are outstanding. The Lost Years aren't that great and the other Necroscope books (Invaders, Defilers and Avengers and the Touch) which followed the Vampire Wars with different Necroscopes seem to lack the oomph of the original with Harry Keogh. Good reads but not as good as the originals. Probably gone on a bit too long with the series like Raymond Feist has with the Riftwar who is now flogging a dead horse

Harry and the Pirates isn't bad though

Reading Salems Lot The Expanded Edition, I'd forgotten how good this book actually is with its ability to instill dread and unease in the reader.

1000 Years Of Annoying The French, This is just a very funny and yet historically important book about our history with the french.

The Peacock Spring, Was recommended this by a friend but am struggling incredibly with it, it is torturously slow going with an annoying lack of focus in its grasp of English.

I missed the fact that the old thread ended, probably because I ended up with a Kindle for Christmas, and I've done loads more reading since I had it... the complete Dark Tower series and some others, so you can see how much I've been getting through!

I'm currently reading another Stephen King novel, Under the Dome. I'm about 55% through (on Kindle, obviously ) and really, really enjoying it, one of my favourite SK books for sure.

Did you see there is a new Dark Tower novel on its way (loved them) and although overall I really enjoyed Under The Dome, I did find the first 100 odd pages a real slog
