Cover\Case for Kindle

My one just could not handle the abuse of being taken in and out of my man bag during tube trips etc, and started to wear a little at the edges after four months of almost daily use.

So I started watching some ebay links for hte official case, and won a brand new one the other day for just over £15 inc postage. Very happy, and the offical case is fantastic. Not sure why I begrudged the £30 for this versus £30 for an Apple iPad case as the Kindle one is leather and is very sturdy - I think it was all down to the %cost vs the device it protects tbh.

Silicon is good for around the house but if I were throwing the kindle in a bag want better screen protection.

Both are about £3/4 and the silicon one came with a screen protector. Probably worth it as can clean it often and not worry about scratching the screen. It's made it slightly reflective though.

I have a Kindle 4, I liked the looks of the tuff-luv hemp case, but not too sure about the material now. cant find a good snap leather case for it. I'm still searching.

I had a look around at the various cases when I bought my Kindle Keyboard but didn't really want a folio case (and certainly wasn't going to to fork out £30-50 for the official ones). I ended up buying a cheap neoprene zipped case in Staples. It's not designed specifically for the Kindle, it's for 7" netbooks so is slightly larger than the reader but it was cheap (£4) and is fine for slipping into my backpack when I want to take the Kindle out. I looked at some similar ones designed for the KK but they seemed very tight and a Belkin one I saw looked like the zip would scratch the kindle when taking it out.

I have the Kindle 4 and I went for the official Kindle Case. Its a really good little case, enough to protect it but its also small enough to not make it big and bulky.

Changed my mind somewhat about folio cases after managing to snag one of the official lighted leather cases from Amazon Warehouse for £12. I don't think its worth £50 and does pretty much double the weight of the Kindle Keyboard but it gives a good depth to the unit when folded over so is really nice to hold compared to the Kindle on its own, which is pretty thin and a little slippery at times. Feels more like a book when closed and the soft inner material is nice. I'd not have gone for a lighted cover if it wasn't so cheap but the light is certainly handy, I've used it a couple of times since getting the case... it does unfortunately give me something movable to fiddle with while reading though so who knows how long it'll last!

I think the standard case is thinner and lighter in weight but very happy with this one considering how cheap it was. My netbook case will be relegated to holiday use probably, I'll possibly put the kindle and leather case into that when I pack my bag for travelling, though will have to keep it accessible for reading on the train.
