yeah taylors are really nice sounding guitars...if I was going high end that's were I'd look.

.....the martin I tried was nice as well.

be interesting to see how you get on with some faiths....it wasn't a name I was familiar with and wouldn't have tried until a guy in pmt got one down for me to try....really nicely made.

To cut a long story short. I have played quite a few now, and went back to the guy with the Taylor and bought it at a very good price. The Faith I tried - Venus - was also great. But the Taylor is, well, a Taylor!
The strings are too large for me, but I've tweaked the truss rod and it now plays and sounds fantastic. I will put new light strings on, but as these were 'new' I'll play with them for a bit and then change. No point chucking money away
I'm well chuffed. I've got a great electric and acoustic now. Only taken me 30 years and around 15 guitars.
The downside is that I couldn't sell my Ibanez. Still trying. But I couldn't pass on the Taylor.

Only advice I would give - if you want to play the guitar for life, get want you want as early as possible. You will save a lot of money. I can't go upwards from where I am now, only sideways or back.

Edit - but my Taylor is by no means their top of the range...

Are you going to put some pics up or do we use our imagination?

here you are... A simple looking guitar. Solid Cedar top, solid Mahogany back and sides. Nothing fancy, just a very well made instrument.

Congrats mate, dead jealous and bet it sounds fantastic.

We want to hear it now if you feel brave enough

Wish it was that simple for me, fairly sure my life guitar would change a few months/years later.

Quite enjoying the journey of trying different guitars. Sure if I had bought that Washburn N4 I dreamed of a few years back I would be hankering after a US Strat or a Gibson. Such is GAS.

...of course there's no rule to say you can only have 1 guitar for life

That was when I got it; this was just taken now, showing the subtle grain in the top.

Christian, no problems with posting a sample, but I'm still struggling with getting a decent recording with my Zoom recorder. But I'll do my best, bear with me. Not worried about my playing, but not going to post anything that sounds like a £50 Asda special! I haver posted a couple of previous recordings on my (now sold) Eastman and my Ibanez. My Funny Valentine and Charles Mingus' Goodbye Pork Pie Hat. Playing OK, but sounded awful!

I've just tuned the guitar to a Joni Mitchell song - Coyote. It's really simple to play, and sounds amazing. Guitar tuned (low to high) CGDFCE. Try it out.

Yes it's nice. Only got to play one Martin which was warmer sounding and very nice, but way out of my price range. The Taylor is an electro version, but they're made the same way as the non electric ones and essentially sound the same acoustically (although there will be a small difference I guess due to the electronics taking up some space inside). As I buy almost all of my guitars S/H, it's sometimes not too easy to get what you want - I wanted a lower model to be honest, but ended up spending a bit more. I wanted a natural wood finish telecaster, and ended up with a metallic green one!
