The numbers refer to the watts so should be 25w.

I guess you have the pod for really low volumes, seems strange not to have a 1w mode. Be interested as well what it's like at bedroom volume.

Yep, it's 25 watts and the low volume mode is 10 watts.  However, at the same wattage apparently a tube amp is louder than a solid state amp.  Best thing would be to go and hear it in real life although you'll probably be in a quandary then, because it's too loud but it just sounds sooooooo good!

Trouble is not really seeming that loud in a guitar shop, turns out to be window shakingly loud when you get it into a far smaller room at home

My 1 watt I rarely turn past 3 or 4, add a pedal into the equation and I can still be on 2 and it is more than loud enough for home use.

I've wondered before now if it would still be loud enough to play with a drummer if I used a pedal. The valvestate is 65w but I've no idea how loud it goes as I've not had it past 3 or 4 with a decent amount of gain.

I just spent a bit of time fiddling with the pod, just with earphones plugged into it, which works very well too.  I figured out how to record a loop (actually the basic arpeggio section from Smoke on the Water) and then jam some improvised lead over it - good fun!

Tomorrow I won't be able to play much during the day but I'll try to have a quick read through the manuals to get a better idea of how to use the things.  I also need to explore some on-line resources like downloading cool presets made by other people.

Whoa!  Congratulations Joakey.  Somehow I hadn't seen this thread at all and had no idea you had taken the plunge.  I shall pick your brains nearer the time to my possible purchase.  I was completely sold on buying one but am just slightly concerned over the loudness of the amp as you alluded to it earlier.  I really need to get to a shop for a demo and try to assess how friendly I believe the volume to be.  I shall be gutted if I deem it too loud.  If that is the case, then the Blackstar ID range is second on my list.  Strange that you gave the Id60 the thumbs-up too, lol.  We must be living in parallel worlds

I've played the DT25 and 500X in Andertons and it was no problem at all at low volume. Just because it can go loud doesn't mean it doesn't shine at low volumes. I had big drive and it sounded great at very low volume in corner of shop as booths were all taken.

Like the Blackstar HT5, you have to have the volume right down if you turn the gain up. Cannot see why you would trade a Blackstar HT5 for an ID60 unless you wanted non-real valve and lots of modelling? Modelling will be better with 500X anyway!
