Hang on, I’m confused, who are we talking about now?

Again though, as per my original point, you ridicule Khan’s suggestion that more Police are required yet don’t do the same when Johnson suggests it.  It was a simple observation.

Are you serious?  Reading to much of The Sun?

You mean entertainment for the city's kids? This will cost less than Boris's Water Cannon that was never used and it probably will help with the local communities.

Also if you add up the extra already committed to knife crime it's already up to £70 million, so it's not in the same ballpark.

Shall we compare this to other spending in London?

Garden Bridge £52m
New Routemaster £321.6m
Emirates Air Line £24m
Water cannon £323,000
Hire bikes £225m
Estuary airport £5.2m
Olympic stadium conversion £305.5m
ArcelorMittal Orbit £6.1m

I'll admit the Water Canon was a drop in the ocean.

In January a man was knifed in front of his son on a train. It started because the aisle was blocked with some bags. No drugs. No gangs. Just a senseless murder.
All to common for young people to carry knives.

That is pretty irrelevant as the rise of knife crime is something that has increased across all of the country, it has been suggested most probably due to the years of austerity.

I wasn’t saying Boris’s spending was silly (some was), but £300k for local “pool party” that might actually bring communities together, these young kids being the next generation of older kids, isn’t going to help much when the increase in spend is already £70 million extra and it’s still not enough

Maybe Boris’s bikes should go first? I think they continue to cost £10 million a year?

Unfortunately budgets have to go around and need to fund more than one issue.

It’s no different to other city’s unfortunately, it’s everywhere.

It needs a nationwide solution to tackle the issue across all of the UK.

In Bristol...

Five teenagers arrested following city centre stabbing of student
Stabbed a student to steal his mobile.

Another one in the last week..
Teenage boy charged over stab murder
Kid arrested was 14

I mentioned before, Manchester is significantly higher per population than London, something like by a factor of x8

I'll give you a clue - look at the title of the thread.

I haven't ridiculed anything - I have simply pointed out that as the guy in charge of the Police in London and the £16 Billion budget for London, if Khan wants more police why hasn't he funded them?

What Boris spent his money on was an issue for him - but it would seem that he didnt waste it on fripperies like Khan when crime is soaring out of control. Crime fell under Boris.

What has that to do with current crime rates across every major city in the UK?

So you’ve shown that in the past crime rates were lower in London, but they were also lower across all of the UK.

You also should read up what was done in Glasgow as it wasn’t all about Police numbers.

So why are you bringing up water cannon and a bridge?. Either the Mayor has responsibility for crime and policing in London or he doesn't. If Khan feels that the number of police is insufficient why hasnt he increased funding rather than spending it on fripperies?

Trying to find out what Khan is actually responsible for seems a tall order. What does this man do apart from publicity stunts?
