I think its very is very important to call out the likes of you, Squiffy and IronGiant for the sort of opinions articulated by you all in this thread.  Yes, you will shout it all down but at least those who simply browse or come across the thread later know you were called out on what, in my opinion, are pretty abhorrent views.

Good, then they will read that I thought it appropriate action for a security guard or police officer but not something that was sensible for Field to have done.

She has suggested that he was too angry, not that he was violent.

What legal rights does a security guard have that Fields didn't?

It's perfectly legal for anyone to use reasonable force to eject a trespasser.

Because as a government minister he should probably be a bit more restrained than someone not in the public eye.  If they had had bouncers on the door the woman would have been thrown into the street, would anyone have batted an eyelid?

Squiffy, if you are changing your opinion and believe he should be sanctioned then I am more than happy to pull back on my earlier remarks against you

Nope. Just using your example to be outraged about things that didn't happen.

Meanwhile, still interested why it was at all relevant about my age or sex.

I've forgiven you for assuming my gender so don't worry about that one.

So are you now saying the protestor wasn't push and grabbed by Fields?

i) Reasonable force is to be established not automatically assumed.
ii) you can't just decide on behalf of the owners/managers/organisers of an event/property that someone is or is not a trespasser, nor what is appropriate.
If you are the owner, manager or an employee/contracted security, then you will have the authority to take actions or make decisions.

Imagine a guest at a barbecue just decides someone at the event is a trespasser and physically removes them from the premises...

I'm saying he didn't throw her against the pillar.

And he didn't assault her.

He used reasonable force to eject a trespasser, as allowed under the law.

And you agree it wasn't a crime, remember.
