Yes, I think it was, as memory serves.

However, a lot of things were said by many senior politicians at that time.

Plenty of leave campaigners said we would leave the single market.

But to point out again, it was that EU that is forcing the issue with their insistence that the four freedoms are indivisible.

Give us the right to control immigration and sign our own deals and I'm sure we would like to keep most of the other arrangements. But the EU said non.

The people had spoken.
52% vs 48% in plain English means:
We don't have a clue.

It's time to be selfless- vote labour

Labour appear desperate enough without trying the tactic suggested in the thread. The last thing they need is to make themselves appear more so.

That is not a pro or anti Tory/Labour/leave/remain comment. It's purely a straightforward observation of their current standing and how such a move would affect them.

So sorry if that upsets Labour supporters, I'm not coming from any angle and don't mean to deride the party.

I know exactly what went on. Vote Leave were not consistent in their message. Post referendum they're now coveniently misremembering. Okay so Boris might have reluctantly u-turned during the campaign, but Hannan and Evans were still making said claims.

Certainly in the case of Daniel Hannan I don't think that is true.

Note dated before the referendum.

Also worth noting that vote leave made no specific promises as they did not pretend to be in government. And they were a very broad church with everyone from Labour MPs to UKIP.

I agree, the vote was about leaving the EU as simple as that. Nobody could guarantee what deals if any will be made, and still today nobody can. All people were able to do is highlight what might be possible, but ultimately that was never the question.

No need for 2nd referendum.

Party campaigns for a definite "rejoin" and the election will be the referendum in itself

Oh come on, they knowingly misled a large proportion of the electorate who weren't informed enough to realise what was printed on their campaign bus was bollocks. It was like an OAP being missold an expensive energy tariff by a cold caller. Even Farage thought it was a poor show.
