My only point is that my eldest has no problem finding work locally as there are more vacancies than applicants of late. This may be due to a reduced number of EU applicants or merely a coincidence.

Can I ask, are those available roles in what are considered the lower skill areas (cleaners etc) which have been talked about a lot when discussing immigrants taking 'our' jobs?  I only ask because I'd assume it would be those roles that became available soonest when EU workers leave the country?

Retail and Catering, as a foot in the door to get on the job ladder. And doing well enough to have already moved out and get his own place.  And with rents of £1000 a month around here that can't be bad...

But those in favor of brexit want higher pay for low paid workers - those in favor of Remain want to keep their wages low. Its basic supply and demand.

I haven't claimed that are paid any less - I have no idea what they are paid.

perhaps you are confusing me with another poster.

Those in favour of Brexit are supposedly concerned about the pay/conditions for our lowest paid/skilled workers (as they’re the ones most affected by immigration) but I’m not seeing the same concerns for them with regards to working conditions/pay in this thread?  It was just an observation.

Not sure about that - just explaining some economic realities.

That's not just an observation, that's just inventing a contradiction when none exists.

I'm in favour of controlled migration as this will lead to better conditions and pay for the low paid in particular.

I'm in favour of market forces dictating pay and conditions, although with some protections (minimum wage and workers rights).

There is absolutely no contradiction there. Reducing the supply of labour improves the bargaining power of workers to get a better deal, giving the outcome of better pay and conditions.
