Oh christ !  Please someone make them stop.  I can't take all this bloody getting offended for the sake of it.
It wasn't right that men hit their wives years ago but it happened and no amount of now being offended will change that.  It happened and that's that.
I dont think Snow White complained did she ?  He didn't grope her as well did he ?  After all he was a bit of a looker.  If Gollum had kissed her I would sympathise with her but he didn't.

All religion should be thought of the same way, like Scientology.
You know its bonkers but as long as its not hurting anyone then you can believe what ever you like.
When that changes thats when you need someone to step in.

Talk about taking something way out of proportion. What a load of nonsense by The Washington Post, which should know better.

It's something when I can't even tell if that is real or a send up.

The colonialism of planting flags on non-consenting moons?

What have I just read?

Personally I agree with the comments Kirsten made in that clearly values and laws have changed and some old stories / films are unacceptable now.  Talking to your kids about your own values is an essential part of storytelling.

Problem is that a bit of common sense is said and people go mental about it and beat the sense out of it.

I find it interesting how my mates and my values have changed.  Now 40  we can't even watch our fav film Blade Runner without complaining about the "rapey" scene where Ford pushes himself on poor old whatsherface. As to Connery' s bond... just won't watch it anymore.

Oh and I and mates have had the same chat about consent with our kids when watching snow white... I watch a lot of films with my kid and we always talk about concepts.

From the comments: "Sufficiently advanced parody is indistinguishable from the actual views held by the progressive Left."

I think when you get to the bit about fat shaming the Gas Giant planets by describing the earth as beautiful you should twig whether it's satire or not.

I'm not sure if you're taking the piss or not regarding your comments about Blade Runner and not watching Connery's Bond anymore. Sure some things in older movies would not be tolerated in modern ones however I'm not sure that scene in Blade Runner is one of them. Connery is a product of his time in regards to his attitude towards women in film and real life but it's only a movie and in this day and age where everyone is lining up to get offended over this and that we all need to chill a bit. Of course we should discuss these type of things, especially with our children but we also need context and a healthy dose of common sense and no left leaning, thank you very much!

In the (paraphrased) words of the late, great Christopher Hitchens, "Just because you say you're offended does not constitute an argument". Especially when you apply it to the 'comfort over truth' banner that all regions fall under.
