If she blocks the EU vote then she has also blocked any reason to have a second Scottish Referendum   Maybe she needs to think that one through again, or maybe she has

Yeah, I think she's secretly pleased we leave, it's all playing right into the SNP's hands.

She would have to get the EU to allow them to stay as a small independent country first. That is the first hurdle before any talk about adopting the Euro or trade barriers with England.

The EU will not agree.

she couldn't block the EU vote as it's a UK vote, it's about all of the UK not just scotland.

Could the Scottish Parliament stop the UK from leaving the EU? http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-36635012

Found this quite interesting. Covers a lot of the topics we have been discussing.

I voted no to independence before and after thinking about it after brexit I would still vote no for independence to stay in the EU. I am wary how a independent Scotland would fit into the EU.  How much say would a small country like Scotland have in Europe. The U.K. Was able to get some concessions from the EU would Scotland have that much power in the EU?

I believe we are stronger sticking together, just my thoughts...

I voted no in the last Scottish referendum and now...not sure. There is much to be said for staying in the EU but England is also our closest neighbour. Much of our goods would have to come through England anyway.  I think we will need to watch and wait to see what happens with the exit negotiations plus who becomes PM.

I am not sure if there is even going to be a majority for independence. Edinburgh may now have a different view but so to might those disaffected working class who were mainstays of Yes! last time.

Theoretically Scotland going independent and then joining the EU would position them well to get a much bigger chunk of the financial services industry as companies start to offshore London operations once the legal implications of Brexit start to kick in. Of course there are loads of complications around timing, membership vetoes etc, but it would not surprise me if someone's not doing some feasibility analysis around it. If Sturgeon could pull the rug from under London as the dominant financial centre and replace it with Glasgow or Edinburgh (or even start the process), she'd go down in history.
