Lets suppose Sturgeon carries on talking up the case for another referendum in Scotland. The EU has said they are not interested in renewing a 'Scotland only' membership. She carries on regardless and somehow gets Westminster to reluctantly agree. Passions are so high north of the border they feel they have no choice.

She is a clever lass and knows full well, the economy of Scotland can't sustain itself. There will be the same arguments about using the pound, but being new country, they will run out of foreign reserves (the pound) very quickly.  EU membership will take years and may be even be blocked for good?  What then?
Does she want the rUK to fund the country?

I cannot see how she can take Scotland down this path.

Prediction:

She's agreed with the EU to make it as difficult as possible for rUK to exit. And they've promised her a Box of Turkish Delight (Narnia reference)  for delivering the rUK on a plate.

She may say Europe sympathises with Scotland but when it comes to it, to get what she wants, Scotland will have to go independent and re-apply to become a member of the EU

A rule change allowing a break away region to retain EU status would make it a certainty that Catalonia would break away from Spain. The Basque country would follow, then Corsica would leave France, etc, etc...

Not going to happen.

i read somewhere that if scotland had chosen independance at the last scottish referendum then as an independant country they would have been bankrupt now as they are carrying massive debts, then again it's no surprise, offering free education, prescriptions, etc has to be paid by someone, as an independant country that debt would have had to be paid for by scotland, hence getting bankrupt.

shame sturgeon didn't tell some of this to her voters......cameron and osbourne project fear ring any bells.....
