The very first line of your post was the giveaway i.e. 'chiefs', not INDIANS.

Seriously. You have no idea.

I used to live in this region. This was how it was a few years ago.

Sandwell and Dudley teachers take 70,000 days off sick

Sandwell Council staff warned over sickies « Express & Star

Then the council brought in new measures.

What will we do? | Reduce the levels of sickness | Sandwell Council

We have set up a dedicated telephone line for staff to call, that goes to a fully qualified Occupational Health (OH) specialist, when ringing in sick, who is able to give guidance on managing their symptoms, and where to go to receive additional support e.g. physiotherapy, counselling, doctors, etc.The OH service also has a fulltime physiotherapy service offering treatments including acupuncture, exercise regimes, manipulation, ultra sound and will shortly be offering hydrotherapy treatments. An annual Flu vaccination programme for all staff has been establishedYou call in sick, you talk to a nurse not your manager where previously you just coughed down the phone etc.

Sick rates dropped and the only people genuinely calling in sick were those who were genuinely ill. If you are ill you are ill and there's no problem with that. If you want leave, then take leave.

If you are genuinely ill then yes if someone turns up at your door and you are genuinely ill then happy days. There can eventually be a managed return to work where perhaps initially you aren't doing heavy lifting etc. So yes that is considering your employees welfare. If however, you were swinging the lead, then tough luck if you get caught doing it. You aren't just defrauding your employer, your mates at work are also having to cover your job. Why should they have to work harder for someone abusing the system?

As I said above, the person who was previously using sick holiday as extra holiday, if you like I can give you a lot of details, name, number, whatever. It used to be the case you were allowed to have a couple of weeks of sick, and nothing was said, so she did, and she used it to visit her family in Scotland as more "holiday."

Of course the rest of the office had to cover her absence knowing full well she wasn't sick and was taking advantage of the system as it was.

What's the point of creating the thread if you don't want people to post in it?

The DWP run at 25% 'overstaffed' to allow for sick leave, they employ 5 people for every 4 desks they have.

I find that quite staggering.

I should think that would cover holidays, resignations, promotions and people moving to other departments. Not just sick leave.

As you said, 'used to be' and again you produce links to the press who as we know are absolutely impartial in such matters.    Is this your only contribution to how to put public services on a proper footing.   I have worked in the private sector and seen many people pull the same stunts.

This type of post is very similar to 'immigrants being responsible for everything that is wrong' being used as a whipping boy.  If it's not the public sector then it's the immigrants, neither of whom can fight back.

I think that says more about the people who peddle this twaddle than those who are the target for it.

Because your contributions to date have nothing whatsoever to to with the subject matter.  You're simply using it as a vehicle to peddle what are clearly prejudices against public sector workers.
