Must be an age thing as for first time ever am contemplating not going it with shorts in the winter myself. Depends if GPS unit for my Polar needs replacing, perhaps have been diving through too many woodland. That or rechargeable batteries at a rate of a recharge per week have a shelf-life of three years

5 hours should be more than enough - even for marathon training!

Why is that one worth the extra £10?

Just to clear things up, I did not mean the battery life in a cheeky way

Going by my school of thought, because it's only £10 for the next model up Going by the sensible, lets look at the specs school of thought, it's probably not worth it.

With the 110, it seems that you can show three items of data on the screen compared to the two of the 10. With the 110, you can also use a heart rate monitor so that may be something to consider if that may be an option in the future. The 10 has got auto pause where as the 110 doesn't. Other than that, there doesn't seem that much difference!

To give some idea of the battery, I've got the 410 and that states 8 hours in training mode, two weeks in power save. I would say I would probably get seven in training and at the moment I have got 39% battery left after charging it a week ago and doing two runs, one of 6 miles and the other being 13.

I was looking at getting the forerunner 10 but ended up getting the Nike sportswatch GPS 2nd hand on eBay. I managed to get it cheap, I think because the previous owner listed it under TomTom.

Im happy with the Nike but I think the Garmin website goes in to a lot more depth?

Leg is feeling relatively good after my 40 minute slow run on Sunday.  I think I'll do another one of those on Wednesday and then keep it rested until the 10km on Sunday.  Still got some bruising around the hamstring but I think I'm doing a good job with knowing what I can/can't do!

Keep getting emails about the London Marathon too, hopefully I get a spot for next years race!

Anyone tried vibrams ?, I've heard they're really good for lower leg development but you get crazy aches for the first few weeks.

Have you only had the Charitable Trust one yesterday or have you had others as well? I've only got one from yesterday but it did mention about if I've secured a ballot place.

I read somewhere that the ballot results come out in the first week of October, and thats next week. Knowing my luck though I won't get a place however I'll stay positive!

50 minutes on the treadmill last night, last run before the 10km on Sunday!  Managed to get to 8.5km, which given that my leg hasn't fully recovered yet, I'm really happy with.

Think I'll be back to some serious training in a few weeks!
