We've got a black bin for general waste, emptied fortnightly alternately with the blue bin for recyclables. Blue bin takes everything, paper, cardboard, cans etc.
Brown bin for garden waste, emptied weekly in the summer.
And a black box for glass, which I lost in the recent hurricane! So my glass now gets put in the black bin until the council pull their finger out and deliver a new box!

Yep, have to sort into different colours of glass too. Add in the fact that due to "social laws" you can't dispose of glass early in the morning, mid-evening onwards, lunchtimes or Sundays, it becomes a real pain!

They gave us these tiny green covered bins for food waste aswell recently but to be honest I don't even know where it is now. I think it got blown away when we had those winds 2 weeks ago. Would most likely never have used it anyway. All my rubbish gets crammed into the black bin.

This

We were given a green food waste bin about a year ago, never used it.

Everything goes in black sacks (no wheely bins here) provided, which try seem to leave one roll every 6-9 months, which last a couple of months.

We have separate pink sacks for paper recycling, so I'll put newspapers etc on there, but that's as far as I go when it comes to recycling.

Qn 1. Are the cornflour/cornpaste/cornstarch caddy bags expensive? Roughly how much do they cost?

Qn 2. What size (in litres) do I require: a: for the indoor caddy? b: for the outdoor lockable lidded bin?

Qn 3. Obviously, I'll shop around for them but got any tips for acquiring them?

Back in a minute...

Edit: http://www.tesco.com/groceries/Product/Details/?id=264811362 We fill them in the small caddy and tie them off and put them individually in the bigger caddy for collection.

It makes a good container for The Boy's Lego in our house.

Many thanks, Mr IG.

The carbon footprint of them may be a bit high, as too is the cost at 11p per bag, but 'it's a start'.

Now then, let's see if I can use Quidco and whether they will take my new Santander 2% CashBack card.........

Don't they accept newspaper as an alternative to liners?

Ours doesn't as the bags are free

I am on my second food bin.  The rubbish collectors snapped off the lid and then later managed to run the lorry over it and smashing it in loads of pieces.
